How many of us actually feel as though we get enough sleep?  Do you fall asleep easily or do you struggle to fall asleep? Do you wake up in the middle of the night?  Sleep problems affect up to 45% of the world’s population (http://worldsleepday.org/usetoolkit/talking-points).
Have you heard about  “World Sleep Day”?  I’m all for that!!   ‘Join the Sleep World, Preserve Your Rhythms to Enjoy Life,’ raising awareness of the importance of circadian rhythms

Harness the detoxing power of charcoal

The Power of Charcoal

Charcoalis the big beauty buzzword for 2017! It's no secret that activated charcoal is considered a powerhouse when it comes to adding a boost to your skincare regimen.  So what is it and how does it benefit your skin?

Activated charcoal is carbon that has been treated to increase its absorbency. It can draw dirt and grime from deep within pores, clearing unwanted bacteria, chemicals, dirt and excess oils.  The toxins stick to the activated charcoal like a magnet.

It has been proven to absorb thousands of times its own mass in harmful substances, which is why it's become such a popular ingredient in face masks, deep cleansers and detoxifying products.

Clean Body, Clean Mind, Clean Skin!

Clean body, clean mind, clean skin!

I've been "Clean eating" on and off (mostly on) for over a year now and when I am in the "zone" I feel great!  Clean eating and exercise (motivated by my lovely friend and fitness guru Teresa Wall) has been the only way that I have managed to lose weight, tone up and keep the weight off.  Taking control of my diet and fitness has resulted in me feeling generally less stressed out and a much happier person!

Then the Summer holidays happened.

Beauty Bug in the press!

How excited was I to be told by one of my clients that she had just been reading my beauty tips in a magazine!!

A few months ago I was approached by the Deputy Editor of Tesco Magazine asking me to provide expert quotes on a DIY Facial- a treatment that someone could do at home on a Sunday night!

This month, the article came out (sadly my local Tesco doesn't have it in yet) but my client kindly gave me her copy!

So I thought that this month, I would bask in the glory of my article and base my blog on it and add in a few of my favourite products!

Is your moisturiser damaging your bones?

As a skin therapist I promote skin health and advise all of my clients to use a moisturiser with an SPF to protect the skin against UV which can lead to premature aging, pigmentation, skin damage and Cancer.

Skin cancer risk factors (Cancer Research website)
  • 86% (90% in males and 82% in females) of malignant melanoma skin cancer cases each year in the UK are linked to major lifestyle and other risk factors.
  • A person’s risk of developing skin cancer depends  on many factors, including age, genetics, and exposure to risk  factors (including some potentially avoidable lifestyle factors).
