Keep calm and have a massage!

Welcome to the first of my monthly Beauty Blogs!  Each month I will be writing a blog about something beauty related!  If you have any suggestions for future blogs whether it be about a particular treatment, product or anything else beauty related please let me know!

Keep calm and have a massage!

The power of touch
by Yasmin@beauty-bug

Therapeutic massage can help to lower stress levels; stimulate lymph flow, circulation and tissue regeneration; alleviate pain and ultimately improve the condition of the skin. Let's face it, it feels amazing too!

What's not to love about having a massage? That feeling of deep relaxation, stress relief, release of muscle aches and pains and the time to drift off into thoughts of fluffy clouds or sunny deserted beaches.  Time to leave our busy, stressful lives behind to enjoy some special "me" time!   As you can tell, I LOVE everything about massage!  As a therapist I barely have time to wax my own legs but every month I make time to have a massage!

I also love giving massages to my clients. I know how the daily stresses of life can impact our bodies leaving us with tense, tight shoulders, sore backs and neck pain.   When a client books in for a massage I try and make that experience one of total and utter relaxation, from the low lighting, scented candles, warm fluffy blanket and relaxing music to the blend of oils that I use during the massage to soothe the senses.

During body massage I use Dermalogica Stress Relief Oil which is a blend of essential oils including Sandalwood, Lavender, Orange and Clary Sage. Naturally-purifying extracts of Tea Tree, Lemon, and Ylang-Ylang help to counteract the negative mental effects of stress for the ultimate in relaxation.  This product also comes in a retail size (Beauty Bug Price £15, RRP £18), is suitable for all skin conditions and is great as a massage oil, bath oil and skin conditioning treatment by mixing it in with your body moisturiser.  It leaves the skin velvet soft and smooth and the concentrated essential oils enhance muscle relaxation and stress reduction.  It is very gentle and I often use it on my little boys, who regularly request a massage before bedtime!

During my signature Dermalogica facial, after exfoliation and extractions, I perform a facial massage.  It’s a great way to relax the facial muscles as well as improving the condition of the skin.  A facial massage includes the décolletage area (love that word – it’s the top of the chest/neck area), shoulders, neck as well as the face and scalp.  I use a variety of massage techniques including pressure point massage and lymphatic drainage which helps to detoxify, strengthen, and improve the condition of the skin. Generally by this point in the treatment, I get to hear the dulcet tones of gentle snores which as a therapist is music to my ears.

Dermalogica has developed a range of pure therapeutic oils that help decongest, revitalise and soothe your skin and your senses!

Soothing blend contains a calming blend of essential oils in a plant oil base that helps reduce redness and skin sensitivity.  It contains lavender, eucalyptus and cypress oils that calm the skin and promote healing. The base oil is oat kernel oil which helps soothe the skin and reinforce the barrier lipid layer (the layer that protects your skin from bacteria).

Clearing/Purifying blend contains an antibacterial blend of essential oils that helps purify and balance breakout-prone skin.  It contains ylang ylang, rosewood and lemongrass to clarify and detoxify the skin in moringa seed oil base which contains antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Revitalising blend contains a therapeutic blend of oils that help to renew, smooth and protect mature, dry skin.  It contains sandalwood, neroli, lavender oils that aid in skin renewal and hydration in a Rose of Winter seed oil that is rich in essential fatty acids and aids in collagen synthesis.

As the winter nights draw in, the beauty room gets cosier and cosier! I would love for you to feel the benefits of either a Therapeutic Facial Massage and Stress Relief Back, Shoulder and Neck Massage.

SPECIAL OFFER: Therapeutic Massage package including 15 minute Facial Massage using a choice of Dermalogica therapeutic oils, and a relaxing 15 minute Stress Relief back, shoulder and neck massage for just £30.

Plus, enjoy a complimentary cup of soothing, revitalising or clearing blend herbal tea before or after your treatment

This offer is available until the end of October (offer of tea available any time)!
